2012 is an important
year in the life of Curtas Vila do Conde. We arrived at the 20th edition
and we preparing a programme to celebrate the twentieth anniversary
showing the best of contemporary cinema. As a corollary, even before the
crisis in the sector, the Curtas Metragens CRL is producing 10 new
films, eight of which will be presented in world premiere during the
festival. It will be therefore a year to celebrate Portuguese cinema.
Programme
The programme consists of films, exhibitions, performances, workshops, concerts and, of course, parties. Please check the films that will compete at different competitions of the festival - international, Portuguese, experimental, music videos, take one! and Curtinhas (films for kids) - this edition promises to be one of the best in recent years.
20 Years Curtas Vila do Conde
This year, the festival is preparing a series of special activities as part of the Curtas Vila do Conde 20th anniversary celebration. In this context, we have commissioned four short films from four well-known directors who have strong links with the festival: Thom Andersen, Helvécio Marins, Sergei Loznitsa and Yann Gonzalez. The four films are already in production and they will premiere during the 20th Curtas in early July. In addition, the Festival will present a retrospective exhibition based on the precious assets resulting from the photographic coverage of the last 20 years, and it is also being prepared a book that compiles interviews with many filmmakers and personalities from the contemporary cinema, collected over the past two decades.
