Zegna Couture Spring Summer 2015 Fashion Show by Stefano Pilati

The Ermenegildo Zegna Couture SS 2015 Fashion Show movie directed by Johan Söderberg is an unconventional cut, a different view on the latest spring-summer show designed by Stefano Pilati.

The starting point was architecture then space came along as a word to objectify it.The inspiration is the result of their interaction translated into the origin of functionality to embody the social structures, the business logics. The silhouettes are more evidently defined in their volumes - the space - and in their graphism - the architecture.

THE SLAP

I gathered acquaintances, friends both casual and close, paired them randomly, put them in a void, and asked them to hit each other in the face. No one was pressured, and everyone was hit as hard as THEY asked to be hit. To go beyond the parody for the full story of what happened, be sure to watch Point of Impact.

This is not a marketing campaign, just me and my friends being real, real dumb.

Jamie xx- All Under One Roof Raving

"I made All Under One Roof Raving whilst on the tail end of another year on the road with The xx. I was missing life in London and trawling through any music and videos that reminded me of home. One in particular I found very inspiring, Mark Leckey's 'Fiorucci Made Me Hardcore. I made this track in order to play out back home as I knew the year to come would be spent largely in the UK, DJing and making my own album. It serves as a reminder, not to take any time for granted at home or away." Jamie xx

Henrik Vibskov: ‘Vibskovski;72’ (Ruttkowski;68, Cologne/Germany)

HENRIK VIBSKOV is a multidisciplinary talent who constantly challenges and expresses his creativity in new ways. He studied fashion design at the renowned London art college Central Saint Martins and graduated cum laude. Back in Denmark, he launched his eponymous fashion label which has become known for its avant-garde collections. Aside from fashion, Vibskov is also an accomplished musician. He plays the drums for Trentemøller. He also designs costumes and sets for music, theatre and opera productions. Earlier this year, he did the costumes for a re-interpretation of Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake performed by The Norwegian National Ballet. For Björk's 2015 tour of Medúlla at The Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels, he designed both the set and the costumes.
Yet, even with fashion and music keeping him busy, art remains Vibskov's raison d'être - the purest expression of his ideas. His artworks have been shown in museums and galleries worldwide. Vibskovski;72 II, his second exhibition at Ruttkowski;68 gallery, features new photographs, woodcuttings and objects that question our definitions and expectations.

SHOWstudio: Palmer//Harding S/S 15 - Cacilie Harris

Palmer//Harding have embraced the tension between strength and vulnerability as the design foundation for their S/S 15 offering. Taking their starting point from the combination of functionality and authority found in vintage collegiate uniforms, Levi Palmer and Matthew Harding added a contemporary element to their research, looking at the textures of peeling billboards in their London surroundings.

The resulting collection expresses these polarised qualities and is captured in a film by Cecilie Harris. The casting of olympic gymnast Sam Oldham expresses a juxtaposition of strength and grace that encapsulates the label's vision of modern masculinity, further emphasised by model Oliver Jones' portrayal of 'naive youth liberated in a concrete and steel setting'.

An intentional abrupt beginning and end startles the senses and causes a slight disturbance, leaving the viewer without a definitive end, completely considered but still raw and unfinished; in a way, similar to the designs in the collection.

I HAD TOO MUCH TO MUCH TO DREAM LAST NIGHT

A Story of Disruption: Narrated by Kevin Spacey

History is full of visionaries who have imagined the impossible, turned it into a reality and disrupted the world around them in the process. By embracing radical new visions, ideas and concepts, these disruptors have been the originators of a new way of thinking, doing and being. They are the revolutionaries of disruptive technology and design.

But disruption isn't limited to history. It is a necessary part of the future. Across the globe people are challenging norms and envisioning a new, superior future for us, all driven by the knowledge that the world can, and will, be made better. They seek inspiration from the most unique and unusual places. They aren't afraid to push the boundaries. They are not defied by limits.

They are Disruptive by Design. It is a philosophy. A process. A promise. An inherent need to improve the world around us in an unexpected, innovative way.

We can all be Disruptive by Design.

This is our story of disruption. Narrated by Kevin Spacey.

Alexander McQueen Men's Spring/Summer 2015

Tailoring is slashed on the revere or under the pockets, reworked as panels to reveal vivid red lining on long and lean coats and suit jackets. An abstracted Kabuki pattern is the dominant and recurring motif featured throughout the collection. It is used all-over, as an asymmetric placement or stripped back to just a single block of colour. There is a play on the scale of three classic menswear fabrics -- the Houndstooth, Birdseye and Prince of Wales check, used in combinations as a new type of patchwork or woven as jacquards in the abstracted Kabuki pattern. The construction of suiting has been pared back, either completely free or half-lined and occasionally with a slight shoulder pad to give just enough structure. Silhouettes are oversized or elongated and trousers are cut wide and loose or drop crotched and skinny. The use of trompe l'oeil gives the perception of layering -- waistcoats over coats and field jackets or black and white colour block knee high socks to give the effect of leggings worn under shorts.

Highlighting that the voice of a single person can bring about the birth of a social movement, the film concludes with the words “your signature is more powerful than you think” and features the song Iron Sky by Paolo Nutini. Through powerful imagery, Amnesty International has encapsulated the essence of its primary objective – inspiring communities to defend their fundamental human rights.

BNV Sharp Engineer | The Boneville Bag Jacket

A short stop-motion feature that takes the viewer through the Sharp Engineer's transformation from chore jacket to duffel bag. This demonstrates how Boneville garments can interlock thanks to our considerately designed KIT System; in this instance we combine the BNV 1004 Pilot's Vest, worn as a KIT Liner, and BNV 1001 Sharp Engineer as KIT Shell.

Serving as both an outer garment and duffel bag, the indigo-dyed Sharp Engineer demonstrates a skilful marriage of both form and function. Internal cording, capable of receiving a KIT Liner, can be removed and threaded through embroidered eyelets to transform the jacket to its bag state.
Its silhouette and multi-pocket design has been derived from the study of a great range of engineer's jackets, chore coats and other working attire seen in both military and commercial settings throughout the last century.
This Italian cotton garment features a centre front secured by custom produced Boneville butcher’s buttons which can be removed and replaced as part of the Boneville KIT concept. The exterior also includes a patch pocket found on the left chest with two dual-access utility pockets below; a button closure pocket can be found inside the jacket to the wearer's right side.
The Boneville logo with nautical bands has been pigment printed on the inner back of the jacket, visible when the bag is constructed. This has been printed pre-laundering and through the launder process degrades, arriving in a delightfully weathered state on completion.

The Wall

Aerial Menswear with Extreme Trampolinists Flippenout

The Guinness World Record-breaking American athletic troupe Flippenout show off their aerial feats in photographer Dominick Sheldon’s directorial debut, The Wall. Having trained under the conceptual eye of Steven Klein, Sheldon fuses the trampolinist stars of NBA and NFL half-time shows’ performance gear with the military-inflected styling of creative director and former editor of Russh, Stevie Dance. The filmmaker shot brothers Sean and Eric Kennedy while they flew through the air at heights up to 22 feet, clad in designers including 3.1 Phillip Lim, J.W. Anderson and Tim Coppens. Captured on the runway of Floyd Bene Fields, a derelict airspace outside of New York, the bouncing showmen are soundtracked to the pulsating “Paradiso,” an original score by bass-heavy producer Feral, AKA Caleb Halter. “My background in fashion spurred me to take them out their typical environment,” says Sheldon. “When they enter and exit a frame they’re in a different outfit yet they’re still in routine. It’s a performance.

Versace x POW! WOW! Mural by Tristan Eaton

POW! WOW! Hawaii has teamed up with California street artist Tristan Eaton to paint a mural for Versace. Centered around the Italian fashion house’s iconic Medusa logo which first made its mark in the fashion world in the ’80s, the mural exhibits Eaton’s use of pastel colors alongside his adept skills with the spray can. Transforming the walls of Kaka’ako into a psychedelic rendition, the legendary logo is further emphasized by Eaton’s pop culture-inspired detailing — looking to formative lines and opaque layering in its vibrant techniques. Supported by Montana Cans, the mural took five days to create using aerosol cans.

Tiananmen Square massacre: we will never forgive our son's killers

Twenty-five years after the Tiananmen crackdown of June 4, 1989 the Communist Party continues to conceal the truth about the deaths of hundreds of victims including Wu Guofeng, a 20-year-old student who was among the first to die.
Shot in the head, shoulder and chest by the advancing troops, and then deliberately skewered through the belly with a bayonet, he was one of hundreds, perhaps thousands of Chinese citizens slaughtered during the Tiananmen Square crackdown that took place 25 years ago this week.
“I will never forgive them. It broke my heart,” Song Xiuling, his 70-year-old mother, told The Telegraph in a rare interview on the eve of the anniversary.
“The Communist Party still dares not publish the truth,” said Wu Dingfu, the dead student’s father. “But one day it will emerge.”
In the quarter-of-a-century since a night of carnage that is now simply known as the “June 4th incident”, China’s Communist leaders have fought tooth and nail to keep the truth about Tiananmen being known.

Oil Eliminator by Kiehl’s

The Oil Eliminator regimen is a combination of natural ingredients and “Space-Age” technology to control oily skin. The Oil Eliminator was designed using Aerolite, which is an aerogel based material that is actually the lightest solid material on earth. This helps the products to appear weightless on the skin. Because this material is highly porous and has a large surface area, it is able to absorb four times its weight in oily substance. The regimen includes a Deep Cleansing Exfoliating Face Wash, Refreshing Shine Control Toner, and a 24-Hour Anti-Shine Moisturizer for Men. After 4 weeks of use, there were actual signs of reduced sweat and oil on the skin.
