A.F. Vandevorst: Delfine
Director Stef Viaene Unveils His Racy Short for the Selfridges Film Project
Belgian beauty Delfine Bafort writhes sensually along the flanks of a mysterious stallion in director Stef Viaene’s intimate physical study, Delfine. The film sees Bafort—who featured in KT Auleta’s Rainbow Warrior beauty film for NOWNESS last August—channeling the spirit of the bucking bronco against a brooding soundscape by Rafaël Sellekaerts. Commissioned to celebrate the opening of the Womens Designer Galleries at London department store Selfridges, Delfine is part of a series of seven unique shorts by different directors invoking the essence of designers including Dries Van Noten, Gareth Pugh and Rick Owens to be screened in a site-specific installation by artist Simon Costin at the Old Selfridges Hotel. “In their own way, the http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.giffilms are wonderfully idiosyncratic representations of the designers they are representing,” explains the project's curator, Emma Reeves. Each short explores the idea of a strong female character, with husband and wife design team An Vandevorst and Filip Arickx choosing to work with fellow Belgians Viaene and Bafort. “The project is not about clothes, it’s about character,” says Selfridges’ Creative Director Alannah Weston. “We wanted each designer to freely express their vision of a woman whom they found captivating and inspiring.”
