keep on turnin'
Listening to Vinyl is a way of life: the gentle lowering of the needle, the uniform rotation of the plate, the characteristic crackling during the playback, the celebration of music.
The all-in-one system combines analog and digital music and creates a harmony between the past and the present. Besides it has a playful character with its slide function to cover the Vinyl plate and the IPod Docking station.

Pleats Please
For two decades, Issey Miyake's Pleats Please has artfully fused together the worlds of high-tech science and avant-garde Japanese design. In the late 80s, a beautifully creased handkerchief caught Miyake's eye, inspiring a new way of conceptualising the pleat – once thought of as the preserve of Mariano Fortuny's opulent Grecian gowns – by democratising the folds for everyday wear. Miyake tested his hypothesis on William Forsythe's Frankfurt Ballet, officially launching Pleats Please in 1993 after witnessing the freedom of expression and movement the garments afforded each individual dancer.
Equal parts art and alchemy, the lightweight architectural accordion-folds mold naturally to the body; they also scrunch up in a suitcase without losing shape, a feature that's made Miyake's lower-priced line synonymous with wanderlust travellers.
As Pleats Please reaches its 20th year, Dazed took a journey through the collection archives, as seen by Alex Sainsbury and senior fashion editor Robbie Spencer. A book about the line will be published by Taschen, this July.

Peggy Moffitt: The Total Look
The 60s Fashion Icon Invites NOWNESS into Her Pop-Infused Los Angeles home
Still rocking her signature Vidal Sassoon five-point cut, Peggy Moffitt chats about being muse and model to designer Rudi Gernreich and her husband, photographer William Claxton, in director Phil Pinto’s new short filmed at Moffitt's colorful home in Los Angeles. Immortalized in Claxton’s 1964 photograph of her wearing Gernreich’s rule-smashing topless monokini bathing suit, Moffitt defined the look of the swinging 60s with her exaggerated dress sense, asymmetric bowl cut, and heavy, kabuki-inspired makeup. “Peggy is a true innovator, an extension of the pop art aesthetic,” says Museum of Contemporary Art Director Jeffrey Deitch. “She invented a new approach to modeling; she brought to it her background in modern dance, and her understanding of and connections to the art world.” The trio’s collaboration is celebrated in The Total Look exhibit at MOCA's Pacific Design Center, which closes this weekend. Curated by Cameron Silver and co-curated by Jhordan Dahl and Ethel Seno, the show features 55 head-to-toe ensembles by Gernreich, culled from Moffitt’s personal collection of 400 pieces, alongside Claxton’s era-epitomizing photos and his 1967 short Basic Black, starring Moffitt and widely considered to be the first fashion film.

Once you come close
"Once you come close" is the new short film - and last project - born from the collaboration between photographer/videomaker Jonas Lindström and Costume National.
Starring a boy and set in the surroundings of a big, hectic city, Lindström's film is a journey through the concept of one's perception of him/herself and the world.
A voice-over accompanies the protagonist, speaking an intimate poetic monologue, unclear if it is revealing the boy's own emotions or just citing someone else's.
Sound and surrounding and noise play along with the boy, interacting with his moves and thoughts on an abstract, somehow dreamlike level.
This work comes as the final stage of Lindström's creative project, as a sum and evolution of the previous photographic contributes, where, through the lenses of his camera, he looked into the relationship between fashion, beauty and the idea of perfection.

FAILE Art Talk
VICE and 42Below recently had the opportunity to collaborate with Brooklyn-based artists FAILE on their permanent installation, The 104 North 7th Project. The piece consists of thousands of handmade tiles designed by the artists, each individually pressed and painted, and then fired in a wood-burning kiln and shipped to the installation site. The tiles were then applied to the surface of the building by the artists and a team of helpers over several days.
Well known for their explorations of duality through a fragmented style of appropriation and collage, as well as their use of unique materials, FAILE have created a beautiful tapestry of color, giving life and personality to a very plain structure.

The White Briefs and Fantastic Man magazine, the bi-annual gentleman's style journal, have collaborated to create a set of seasonal mesh underwear, such as these fly-fronted briefs. Structural ribbing has been covered for comfort, and a double layer of mesh in the crotch keeps gents modest.

Code Red
On August 27, 2011, the Billabong Pro Tahiti event on surfing's World Tour was placed on hold due to a massive swell bearing down on the famed big-wave spot, Teahupoo. With forecasts calling for unprecedented surf, some of the greatest surfers in the world descended on the island to be in the water, despite a "Code Red" called by the Tahitian Coast Guard, which sought to keep everyone on shore. See the historic day through the eyes of two surfers -- the young gun Laurie Towner and the veteran Dylan Longbottom -- as they catch some of the biggest, most dangerous surf ever recorded, much of it captured with the super slow motion Phantom Camera for never-before-seen imagery.
Days Out with the Phantom Miro M120
I was lucky enough to be the first person to shoot with the new Vision Research Phantom M120 camera systems. This is just a sample of a project I have had in my head for a while. With help from Abel Cine I was able to test out the camera's before they shipped and put this little edit together. Being able to have a small form factor high speed camera like this for my projects is a long time wish.
